The purpose of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) aim is to prevent substance abuse and related problems in communities by building capacity and infrastructure at the State and Community levels. Many states have formulated State Incentive Grant (SIG) plans that employ community mobilization as their primary strategy by supporting the development of local coalitions within communities.

Drawing on the "What Works, Wisconsin" report released in 2005 (http://oja.state.wi.us/jj/), we will discuss evidence-based programs and practices for the prevention of juvenile delinquency and other child and teen problems. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of what it means for a program to be "evidence-based" and "cost-effective," as well as insights into how the accumulated evidence on effective programs can be used to improve practices and programs more generally..
