Alcohol Syndrome
"The Partnership to Prevent
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome was established by the Substance Abuse and
Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) Center for Substance
Abuse Prevention (CSAP), in July 2001. The goal of the Partnership
is to unite communities nationwide in a public health response to
prevent Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and alcohol-related birth defects
(ARBD). The Partnership aims to empower mothers to deliver healthy
babies by encouraging women who are planning a pregnancy or already
pregnant to avoid alcohol. It also strives to foster social support
among their significant others."
