Underage Drinking Prevention: Town Hall Meetings are being held around Wisconsin and around the country as part of a national effort to bring awareness and understanding about underage drinking and its consequences. Meetings are scheduled to take place in communities throughout the state and country on or around March 28, 2006. These meetings are helping to bring communities together, and using materials available online and through sources such as the Wisconsin Clearinghouse's State RADAR Network Center, they are meant to help launch SAMHSA's Reach Out Now! National teach-ins to talk more about underage drinking.
This effort is sponsored by the Interagency Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Underage Drinking (ICCPUD), which consists of the Administration for Children and Families, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Federal Trade Commission, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, Office of the Surgeon General, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and Office of National Drug Control Policy.
