Service to Science Academy
The Central Center for the Advancement of Prevention Technology (CAPT), located in Mounds View, Minnesota, is hosting a Regional Service to Science Academy for prevention programs. Last year’s academy was a resounding success, and they are excited to again serve the states in this capacity. They are seeking one nomination from each state they serve and the Red Lake Nation to participate. The only requirement for a program to participate is that the program director/staff have an interest in improving their evidence- or research-based substance abuse prevention program. Therefore, programs from those in the beginning stages of designing an evaluation to those considering submission to the National Registry of Effective Programs and Practices (NREPP) are eligible for the Academy. Underage Drinking Prevention: Town Hall Meetings
Part of a national effort to address the issues and risks of underage drinking, Underage Drinking Prevention: Town Hall Meetings are being held in communities around the state and the country. Sponsored by the Interagency Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Underage Drinking (ICCPUD) these meetings are meant to "increase understanding and awareness of underage drinking and its consequences, and to encourage individuals, families, and communities to address the problem."
